3D Blog

This was my CDIABU '09 3D class practicum, lead by Katie Lafaw; A short, children-friendly animation
created for the New England Wildflower Society. The piece is featured on the NEWFS official website.

That's me doing the voice for the seed in the CDIABU audio department. Dave, one of the CDIABU '09
audio students who helped with our practicum, sent me the picture he took from his phone.

7/30/09 Arm - Model2 * Two test renders with dramatic lighting and basic textures (not final).

7/28/09 Arm - Model1 * I am designing a new gothic/skeleton/robotic character. It all started
with this hand/arm I have been modeling the last few days.

7/26/09 Twinkle - Turntable Occlusion * An Occlusion render of Twinkle on her turntable, sitting at
a desk pondering her broken star.

6/20/09 Twinkle - Posing * I am currently posing and lighting Twinkle for her turntable.

6/9/09 Twinkle - Rigged3 * I have completed Twinkle's IK rig. In place of using nCloth on the hat, it
has been rigged to flexibly fall forward and backward, and nCloth was instead applied to the
dress. She is now ready for animation.

6/6/09 Twinkle - Rigged2 * I need to set up the controls on the right arm, connect the right hand
joints together, and then rigging should be about finished.

6/4/09 Twinkle - Rigged1 * With the much appreciated help of CDIABU graduate and 2D/3D artist
[Chris Kapp] I have ignited the creation of Twinkle's IK rig.

5/28/09 Twinkle - Textured1 *

5/26/09 Twinkle - UVs * I have laid out Twinkle's UVs in Headus and am in the process of
making a skin, face, dress, and hat texture in Adobe Photoshop CS3.

5/25/09 Bob - Polyflow1 * This is the current polyflow for Bob. I am unsure whether he will have a
second yellow boot or a peg leg. I will be laying out UVs and texturing him in the next few days.

5/24/09 Bob - Model1 * Meet Bob, the wanna-be fisherman who has no arms and therefore...
cannot fish. Bob is a project I have been working on outside of school, originally created (no
concept) in Autodesk Maya 2009. It began with his organic shape and profile. From there he
gained a fishing hobby and puzzled personality.

5/23/09 Twinkle - Model1 * I will be modeling a more stylized version of Twinkle (similar to the
concept) after this version of Twinkle is rigged. Here are four screenshots of Twinkle coming
to life. The hat has been modeled vertically, and I will be using nCloth, allowing the hat to
naturally drop itself in front.

5/22/09 Twinkle - Concept Drawing * This is Twinkle, the only star in the sky with a flickering,
lifeless light among the bright and shining others. I am currently modeling this saddened
Twinkle in Autodesk Maya 2009. Concept art (above) was sketched in Adobe Flash CS3.
